Simon Howie – The Scottish Butcher, is enjoying a bumper Summer with sales of their premium BBQ range beating targets and securing further listings.
Fresh from their success at the Meat Management Awards – (the equivalent of the Oscar’s for the UK’s best meat products)-  where their Premium Steak Burger won Best free-from Product 2017. Sales of the award-winning burger have more than doubled year on year with the UK’s top two supermarkets Tesco and Sainsbury’s stocking it throughout large parts of their estate.
Inspired by an online post by celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal, Simon Howie’s Premium Steak Burger is made using a unique noodle textured fill system ensuring a loosely packed burger that is juicier and more flavourful than a typical hand or machine-made burger. First listed in Tesco in 2015, the company then responded to the growing demand for quality free from products and adapted the burger to make it gluten-free in the winter of 2016. The company saw an immediate sales jump of 40%.
The burger which is now available in both a 227g 2 pack and a 454g 4 pack has been further boosted by its new Summer branding to fit with the BBQ range which also consists of a Tennessee inspired Bourbon burger (also gluten-free) as well as big bite jumbo dogs in both plain pork and Bourbon flavour.

Simon Howie says of the award:
‘We are delighted to have won this terrific award for our Premium Steak Burger at The Meat Management Awards last week. It is always nice when the hard work and commitment that the team put in striving for excellence is recognised. We are passionate about the quality of our products and providing our customers with products they love and quality they can trust “
